Eagles Score Late to Beat Men's Soccer

MARS HILL, N.C. – Nico Noll scored with 44 ticks left in regulation to lift Carson-Newman over the Lions in South Atlantic men's soccer action Wednesday night at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 4-9 overall and 4-5 in the SAC. The Eagles improved to 9-4 on the season and 5-3 in the league.
Felipe Ferraro put the Lions on top 1-0 at the 29:52 mark on a penalty kick. Kristian Speake tied the contest at 1-all in the 42nd minute off a cross from Duncan Foster. The teams carried that score into the locker room at the intermission.
Nico Noll scored the match winner at the 89:16 mark on a touch pass from Ross Frame.
Carson-Newman edged the Lions in shots, 12-11. Corner kicks were even at two apiece. The Eagles were called offsides five times while MHU was called offsides on three occasions. Chris Mitchell played 60 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made three saves. Rumwald Le Guevel also played the entire match in the net for the Eagles and also made three saves.
Mars Hill will host SAC rival Brevard College on Friday night. Match time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
