Lions Blank Lincoln Memorial
HARROGATE, TENN.—Mars Hill’s men’s soccer team got back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial in a South Atlantic Conference match held Thursday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex.

HARROGATE, TENN.—Mars Hill's men's soccer team got back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial in a South Atlantic Conference match held Thursday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex.
Felipe Ferraro scored in the 39th-minute to provide the only goal the Lions would need. Chris Mitchell earned the shutout in his first-career start with five saves, holding the third-ranked scoring team in the SAC scoreless. Mars Hill improved to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in SAC matches. Lincoln Memorial is now 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in SAC matches.
Ferraro got Mars Hill on the board at the 39:23 mark of the first half. Ferraro was able to score off a rebound punched out by the keeper following a Mars Hill cross attempt. The goal was the senior's first of the season.
Mitchell came up big for the Lions in the first half, making four of his saves in the opening stanza.
Marcel Barwanietz made two saves for the Railsplitters. LMU held a 24-11 advantage in shots, but were only able to get six on goal.
Mars Hill will continue conference play Saturday when they host Anderson at 3:00 p.m. in Meares Stadium.
