Lions Top Lenoir-Rhyne in Home Opener
Ludovico Corsini won three events as the Mars Hill men’s swimming team opened the home portion of the 2014-15 season with a 135-65 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne
MARS HILL, N.C.- Ludovico Corsini won three events as the Mars Hill men's swimming team opened the home portion of the 2014-15 season with a 135-65 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in Harrell Pool on Saturday morning.
Corsini, who was named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week on October 9, won the 100 Yard Breaststroke (58.92), 50 Yard Freestyle (22.81) and was the second leg of the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:39.33). Kendall Corbett swam the opening leg of the 200 Medley Relay and was also victorious in the 100 Yard Backstroke (56.66). Corsini and Corbett were joined by Shane Whicker and Ryan Martin in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Brett Malmstrom was the winner of the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:03.66 and the 1000 Yard Freestyle in 10:20.42. David Hallberg won the 100 Yard Butterfly in 54.97 and finished in second place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Whicker followed Hallberg across the line in second place in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Trey Mason claimed the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:49.89) and was the runner-up in the shorter 100 Yard Freestyle (51.06). In the 200 Yard Individual Medley, Brady Rothschild was the first swimmer across the finish line in 2:05.39. Rothschild earned a second place result in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Mars Hill returns to the pool on Friday against Union College and Milligan College in Milligan, Tenn.
