Men's Swimming Defeats King on Senior Day
The Mars Hill men’s swimming team sent senior Justin Gale out on a winning note as the Lions defeated King University 131-45
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill men's swimming team sent senior Justin Gale out on a winning note as the Lions defeated King University 131-45 on Senior Day in Harrell Pool.
Gale was victorious in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:52.12), 500 Yard Freestyle (5:18.98), 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. Kendall Corbett, Ludovico Corsini and David Hallberg teamed up with Gale to win 200 Medley Relay, while Ryan Martin, Trey Mason and Shane Whicker combined with Gale for the 400 Freestyle win.
Corbett won the 100 Yard Backstroke in 56.62 and the 200 Yard Backstroke in 2:19.78. Mason finished in second place (59.03), followed by Michael Norman in third (1:06.09). Corsini claimed the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 58.27 seconds with Brian Davis and Samuel Ransom completing a Mars Hill sweep. Brett Malmstrom won the 200 Yard Butterfly in 2:08.81
Whicker was the victor in the 50 Yard Freestyle in 22.64 seconds followed closely by Martin with a time of 22.75. In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Whicker earned a close victory over Hallberg, touching first with a time of 55.78 compared to Hallberg's 55.85. Hallberg won the 200 Yard IM in 2:06.14. Martin claimed the win in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 50.17 seconds. Brady Rothschild won the 200 Yard Breaststroke in 2:19.59.
Mars Hill will compete in the Appalachian Swimming Conference meet on February 12-14 in Christiansburg, Va.
