Lions fall to Young Harris in Saturday matinee action

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-7) fell to Young Harris (10-0) by a score of 63-51 Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
Young Harris jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but Mars Hill clawed their way back into the contest, taking the lead late in the frame, led by the duo of Jackson Reid and Kory Davis. Young Harris, in the closing moments, tied the game at 30 entering the half.
The Mountain Lions outshot Mars Hill 46 percent to 40, but the Lions held the advantage beyond the arc, hitting 40 percent of their shots.
Reid and Davis led Mars Hill with nine points apiece followed by seven from Trey Belin. Young Harris was led by 10 from Kennedy Willis and seven from Nate Dunlop.
The second half saw a low-scoring affair with the teams combining for just 51 points. The Lions kept the contest within five for a majority of the frame, but a late run by the Mountain Lions proved to be the difference maker as Young Harris advanced to 10-0 on the year.
Belin led Mars Hill with 14 points followed by 11 from Reid.
Four Mountain Lions recorded double-digits in scoring, led by 15 from Paul Hosey and 11 from Lenny Pradia.
Mars Hill returns to the court on Monday, December 19 when they host Lees-McRae. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
