Lions wrap up 2022-23 season on Senior Day
The Mars Hill men’s basketball team (9-19, 4-14 SAC) was defeated by Anderson (9-19, 6-12 SAC) by a score of 95-69 Saturday afternoon to close out the 2022-23 season.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (9-19, 4-14 SAC) was defeated by Anderson (9-19, 6-12 SAC) by a score of 95-69 Saturday afternoon to close out the 2022-23 season.
Anderson jumped out to a 19-0 lead to open the first quarter and maintained the double-digit lead for the duration of the half. They shot nearly 61 percent from the floor, going 53 percent from beyond the arc. Jalen Hillery led the Trojans with nine points while the trio of Mason Carver, Jacksen Greco, and Jackson Gamons added seven apiece.
Jackson Reid led all players with 11 points, hitting three threes. Isaiah Jones added six points.
The Trojans continued to roll in the second half, shooting nearly 52 percent from the floor, outscoring the Lions 50-41. They hit 10-of-19 three-pointers in the frame, clicking at 53 percent from beyond the arc.
Garrett Denbow led all players with 21 points while Ian Thomson collected 13 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Mason Carver added 18 points.
Reid led the Lions with 19 points followed by 15 from Ji'lil Michael. Jones ended the contest with 13 points.
Prior to the contest, Jackson Reid, Trey Belin, and Isaiah Jones were recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the men's basketball program.
