Lions defeated by Coker in road finale

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (8-18, 3-13 SAC) was defeated by Coker (12-14, 6-10 SAC) by a score of 76-54 Saturday afternoon.
Coker carried a 10-point advantage into the half, leading 35-25. The Cobras were led offensively by Tate Mulkey and Mahmoud Bangura, each netting seven points apiece. William Asken added six and pulled down a half-high six rebounds.
Kory Davis led the Lions with six points followed by five from Ji'lil Michael. Jaz Johnson led the team with four rebounds.
The Cobras shot 57 percent from the floor in the second half as Mulkey and Marvin Brumfield led the team with eight points apiece. Jamie Muldowney pulled down five rebounds to lead the team.
Davis once again led the Lions with eight points in the half. The duo of Isaiah Jones and Xzaviaer Hawkins each added six points while Johnson pulled down five more rebounds.
Coker shot 46 percent to the Lions' 26 on the day, hitting nine three-pointers on the afternoon. Mulkey led the team with 15 points followed by 10 from Jordan Jones. Asken led all players with 10 rebounds.
Davis led the Lions with 14 points followed by Jones' eight. Johnson led the team with nine rebounds.
The Lions return home on Wednesday, February 22 when they face Limestone in their penultimate game of the season. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m.
