Davis sets career-high against No. 3 LMU

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (4-12, 1-7 SAC) was defeated by No. 3 ranked Lincoln Memorial (18-1, 8-0 SAC) by a score of 87-65 Wednesday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions' offense jumped out to an early 6-0 run before the Railsplitters answered back, going on a 17-2 run. They led by as much as 12 with 8:13 remaining before the Lions clawed back into the contest, pulling within five at the end of the half following three straight free throw makes from Kory Davis. LMU led 37-32 at the half.
Jordan Walters and Matthew Sells led Lincoln Memorial with nine points apiece as the team shot over 45 percent from the floor. Davis led all players with 11 points followed by Kendall Davis' eight. Dominic Strother led all players after 20 minutes of play with five rebounds.
The Railsplitters put up 50 in the second half, hitting nearly 70 percent of their shots from the floor. Jordan Walters led the charge, netting 16 in the final 20 minutes of play. Quay Kennedy also put up 16 for Lincoln Memorial. Walters led all players with 25 points, going 10-of-11 from the floor.
Kendall Davis led the Lions with 11 points in the half, establishing a new career-high by finishing with a team-high 19 points. Kory Davis ended the night with 18 points.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, January 25 when they host Emory & Henry. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
