MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (8-15) defeated Warren Wilson (3-16) by a score of 87-69 Thursday night to extend their win streak to three games.
The Lions led by 11 after 20 minutes of play, carrying a 45-34 lead into the half. Trey Belin led the squad with eight points while Jaz Johnson and Kendall Davis each added seven points. Rajuan Conner led the Lions with five rebounds in the half.
Mars Hill carried their momentum over into the second half, shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc and outscoring Warren Wilson 42-35 in the final 20 minutes of play.
Belin netted 16 points in the half, going 6-of-8 from the floor and hitting three three-pointers. Davis added eight points. Defensively, Elisha Barnette pulled down four rebounds and blocked three shots.
Belin led all players with 24 points, two shy of tying his career-high, and collected a team-high seven rebounds. Davis scored 15 and added five steals while Barnette led all Lions with four blocks.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, February 11 when they face Newberry on the road. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
