MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (4-3, 0-2 SAC) was felled by Anderson (6-2, 2-0 SAC) by a score of 20-8 Friday afternoon.
The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 advantage, scoring both goals only 24 seconds apart. The Lions' Trevor Kennedy cut the deficit in half, but Anderson responded in a big way.
The Trojans netted seven straight to go up 9-1 with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter. The South Atlantic Conference's leading goal scorer, Zac Carrigan, closed out the frame for Mars Hill with their second of the frame.
In the lowest scoring quarter, Mars Hill outscored Anderson 2-1 to enter the half trailing 10-4. The Lions got goals from Cole Ross and Brandon Woodward. Ross assisted on Woodward's tally.
Anderson outscored the Lions 10-4 in the final 30 minutes of play to come away with their sixth win of the season.
Logan Gaddis (2g, 7a) and Triston Schaffer (7g, 2a) led all players with nine points. Woodward (3g) and Cole Ross (2g, 1a) led the Lions with three points apiece.
Mars Hill hosts Lincoln Memorial on Wedneday, March 16 inside Meares Stadium. First faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
