MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (4-6, 0-5 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (7-2, 4-1 SAC) by a score of 21-8 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs carried a 10-0 lead into the second quarter. Danny Riley and Bobby Padden both netted hat-tricks while Adam Vodovnik posted three points (1g, 2a).
Mars Hill netted three in the second off the sticks of John Hommel, Brandon Woodward, and Trevor Kennedy. The second half saw both teams record five goals apiece. Kennedy and Cole Ross struck twice for the Lions while Zac Carrigan scored his lone tally on the day.
Padden led all players with six points (5g, 1a) while Kennedy led the Lions with five (3g, 2a).
KC Carlson earned the win for the Bulldogs while Steven Smith was credited with the loss.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, March 30 when they travel to Limestone. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
