Carrigan nets 50th of season versus Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (4-9, 0-8 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (3-7, 3-3 SAC) by a score of 14-11 Friday night on the road.
Zac Carrigan recorded his 200th career point with his first goal in the second quarter. His two tallies in the third quarter made him the first player in the South Atlantic Conference to hit 50 goals on the season.
Catawba used a five-goal fourth quarter to come away with the win. Scoring the first five of the frame, Christian Norrie scored three times in the run.
Both teams ended the first tied at two with Lions' goals coming from Cole Ross and Trevor Kennedy. The Indians kicked off the second on a 5-1 run before the Lions scored three straight to end the half trailing 7-6. Mars Hill got goals from Ross, Carrigan, and Austin Stroud.
Mars Hill outscored Catawba 3-2 in the third with two goals from Carrigan and Stroud's second of the night.
Matt Mitchell (4g) and Greg Johanning (3g, 1a) led the Indians with four points while Ross (3g, 1a) led the Lions with four of his own. Carrigan (3g) and Brandon Woodward (2g, 1a) each added three apiece.
The Lions travel to Newberry on Saturday, April 16 for their final road game of the 2022 season. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
