Myers, Young Set Three School Records
Freshman James Myers and sophomore Malachi Young broke school records as the Mars Hill men’s track team competed in the opening day of the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN.- Freshman James Myers and sophomore Malachi Young broke school records as the Mars Hill men's track team competed in the opening day of the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational on Friday.
Running the 60 meter dash, Myers set a new record with a time of 6.84 seconds, which is the 18th-fastest time in the country among NCAA Division II runners and is a provisional qualifying mark for the national meet. He will compete in the finals tomorrow. Myers also broke a 10-year-old school record in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a new record time of 22.43 seconds.
Young finished the 400 meter dash in 50.72 seconds, breaking a 10-year-old school record.
Marcus Foster and Trevon Gee each ran personal bests in the 60 meter hurdles, with Gee crossing the finish line in 8.35 seconds and Foster in 8.50 seconds. Malik Anderson finished the 60 meter dash in a personal best 7.31 seconds.
The meet continues tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
