Witt makes seven saves against Lincoln Memorial

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-8-0, 0-4-0 SAC) fell by a score of 5-0 to Lincoln Memorial (6-3-0, 2-2-0 SAC) Wednesday evening at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
The Railsplitters scored twice in the first half to hold a 2-0 lead heading into the final 45 minutes. Daisy Drake scored at the 18:29 mark for her first of the year. Five minutes later, Jessica Cravero scored her ninth goal of the season from the middle of the box, striking the ball over the shoulder of the Mars Hill goalkeeper Tonje Jorgensen.
Lincoln Memorial added three goals in a span of 20 minutes in the second half. Just four minutes into the frame, Itzel Ballesteros scored her first of the contest. She would go on to score her second goal of the game in the 67th minute, her sixth of the season.
Lauren Wood would score the fifth Railsplitters goal three minutes later.
The Lions were outshot 24-5 and 15-2 with attempts at goal. Samantha Pyle and Jessica Zedek had the two Lions' shots.
Clare Witt made seven saves in the second half for the Lions. Ann-Marie O'Connell had two saves in the winning effort.
Mars Hill travels to Hartsville, South Carolina on Saturday, October 6th for a conference matchup against Coker. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.
