Women's Cross Country Picked to Finish Third in SAC
The Mars Hill women’s cross country team was picked to finish in third place in the South Atlantic Conference by the league’s coaches in the annual preseason poll released on Thursday.
ROCK HILL, S.C.- The Mars Hill women's cross country team was picked to finish in third place in the South Atlantic Conference by the league's coaches in the annual preseason poll released on Thursday.
The Lions earned 97 points, 13 behind second place Queens and six ahead of fourth place Anderson. In 2013, Mars Hill finished in third place in the league. The Lions return First Team All-SAC and NCAA Championship qualifier Jessica Viscusi along with Second Team All-SAC recipient Faith Trammell. In their senior seasons, Viscusi and Trammell will be joined by eight freshmen as the Lions will have the largest team in program history with 22 runners.
Defending SAC champion Wingate was chosen as the preseason favorite. The Bulldogs tallied 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Queens was chosen to finish in second place after recording 110 points.
Mars Hill begins the 2014 campaign on Friday, September 5 at the Catawba Pre-Conference Invitational.
