Women's Cross Country Sets Several Personal Bests at L-R Invitational
The Mars Hill women’s cross country team set five new personal bests and seven season bests in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational at Southside Park on Saturday.
NEWTON, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's cross country team set five new personal bests and seven season bests in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational at Southside Park on Saturday. The Lions finished in fifth place.
Dawn Radford set a new personal best with a 5-kilometer run of 21:09.75 to finish in 25th place. Kierstyn Horton finished with a season best 22:38.87 in 30th, followed by Andrea Wolfrey who tied a personal best with a 22:45 effort. Vanessa Viscusi set a new personal best of 23:02 for a 34th place finish, one spot behind Wolfrey. Carey Shields completed the top five with a new seasonal best mark of 23:26 in 36th. Also setting new personal best times were Danielle Dunn (23:00) and Jessica Scott (24:22.)
NCAA Division I member Appalachian State was the event winner with 33 points. The Lions take to the course again in two weeks at the South Atlantic Conference championship meet in Salisbury, N.C.
