Seven Lions Named to USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region Team
The Mars Hill track and field team had seven student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Region teams for the 2014 indoor track & field season. The women’s team had three selections, while the men’s team had four selections.
NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Mars Hill track and field team had seven student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Region teams for the 2014 indoor track & field season. The women's team had three selections, while the men's team had four selections.
Alexis Montgomery and Jessica Viscusi were each named All-Region in three events. Montgomery earned All-Region honors in the 60 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. Viscusi was named All-Region in the 800 meters, mile and 3000 meters. Kristen Trammel was named All-Region in the 5000 meters.
Tre'von Gee made the All-Region team in the 60 meter hurdles, Alex Griggs collected All-Region honors in the 5000 meters, Isaac Phyall earned All-Region accolades in the heptathlon, while Travis Riner made the All-Region team as a shotputter.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams. The regions used for this award match those used during the cross country season.
Men's All-Region awards went to 536 different student-athletes, who combined for 770 total awards. The women saw 525 separate competitors accumulate 776 total honors.
