Lions Track and Field Continues Impressive Season
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mars Hill men’s and women’s track teams had an outstanding meet at the Wofford Terriers Relay.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track teams had an outstanding meet at the Wofford Terriers Relay. Just as they have done all year, both teams had runners eclipse old personal-bests and establish new ones.
For the women, Arriel Smith had three all-time bests today in the 100m with a time of 12.97, 200m with a time of 27.06 and 1:01 for the 400m. Alauna Reckley also had a PR in the 100m with a time of 12.96. Autumn Miller had a season best in the 400m with a time of 1:02.99.
Shelby Robinson had a 20 second PR in the 1500m with at time 5:16. The Lions also had new marks set by Jordan Bair in the 100m, Kaleigh Jackson in the 1500m. Samantha Burns also had a PR in the long jump with 16 feet 6 inches and the triple jump with 33 feet 4 inches
On the men's side Justin Gragg won the meet in the 5,000 while setting a new track record by 40 seconds and Alex Griggs came in second. Malik Anderson had carrer-bests in the 100m and 200m along with Noah Ford in the 100 and 200. Marlon Allen had a PR in the 100m and Noah Allison had a PR in the 1500m running 4:13. Cameron Lackey had a PR in the 1500m. Josh pike had a PR in the 200m.
"With all the hard work we've put in this year it is great to see the times reflect just that", said Coach Nagel. "Today was one great performance after another. We have two weeks until the conference championships and we are right here we need to be to put up more great times at the SAC championships. I'm very proud of all our athletes for laying down some great times today", he concluded.
The Blue and Gold will now turn their attention to Saturday, April 9 as they travel to Boone, N.C. to participate in the Mountaineer Invite.
