Lions Track and Field Impresses at Roanoke College JUMPS/THROWS
SALEM, VA. – The Mars Hill men’s and women’s track teams produced an incredible showing at the Roanoke College JUMPS/THROWS Indoor Meet on Saturday, March 04.
SALEM, VA. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track teams produced an incredible showing at the Roanoke College JUMPS/THROWS Indoor Meet on Saturday, March 04.
On the men's side Keenan Foxx broke the school record in the weight throw with a fantastic mark of 14.43m. Brandon Beard had a personal record in the mile by 7 seconds running a 4.22, while Markece Cunningham had a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 13.14m. Marlon Allen continued his impressive spring campaign as he posted two personal records with a time of 51.45 in the 400m and 22.81 in the 200m.
On the women's side Samantha Burns broke the 8-year-old triple jump school record with a jump of 10.14m. Jordan Bair broke the school record in the pole vault with a height of 3.17m, while Lee Ann Farr had a season best throw of 10.03m in the shot put.
Coach Bradley Nagel said, "This was one of the best all-around performances I've seen from our athletes in my 13 years at Mars Hill. I'm so proud of these student athletes and their hard work."
The Lions will now turn their attention to the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships on February 16-18 in Birmingham, Ala.
