Mars Hill felled by LMU

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (5-2, 2-1 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (3-2, 2-0 SAC) by a score of 66-53 Tuesday evening.
After a low scoring first quarter saw the Railsplitters lead 14-9 after 10 minutes, the teams each scored 16 apiece in the second. Mars Hill shot 50 percent from the floor with both Tateyoina Harris and Amiya Porter netting six points apiece. Porter hit two of four three-point attempts.
The Lions outscored Lincoln Memorial in the third, thanks to an opening 7-0 run. Aaliyah El scored eight of her team-high 18 points in the frame, going 4-of-5 from the floor. Porter and Maddie Gillie each added three points apiece.
Lincoln Memorial responded in the fourth, going 7-of-10 from the floor, led by Jamyah Winter's nine points. They outscored the Lions 21-12 in the final 10 minutes of play to secure their third win of the season.
Winter led all players with 22 points. El led the Lions with 18, adding six rebounds. Harris led all players with 14 rebounds, adding nine points. Porter ended the contest with 10 points.
Mars Hill wraps up their four-game homestand with a record of 3-1, going 2-1 in conference play. They return to the road on Saturday, November 30 when they face Tusculum. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
