El nets career-high 23 versus Pioneers
Aaliyah El led all players with 23 points in Lions' loss to Tusculum.
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (5-3, 2-2 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (4-4, 2-2 SAC) by a score of 78-74 Saturday afternoon.
The Lions led by one entering the final 10 minutes of play. Tusculum hit 65 percent of their shots in the final frame, scoring a game-high 27 in their comeback bid. Carleigh Wilson led the way with eight points.
Tateyoina Harris led Mars Hill with seven points and eight rebounds in eight minutes of action while Aaliyah El netted six points.
Tusculum led 34-29 at the half before Mars Hill responded in the third quarter, outscoring Tusculum 23-17 to lead 52-51 after 30 minutes. El led the Lions with nine points followed by Daisy Gale's seven.
Ni'Kah Chesterfield and Danyell Booker led the Pioneers with 14 points while Wilson added 10 and a team-high eight rebounds.
El led all players with a career-high 23 points followed by 16 from Harris. Harris collected the double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. The trio of Harris, El, and Landyn Stewart led the Lions with three steals apiece.
Mars Hill returns home versus Newberry on Wednesday, December 4. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m.
