Breanna Naranjo and Sarah Sager each scored goals to lead the Wolves to the victory. Rebecca Darley made four saves to pick up the shutout. Newberry outshot MHU by a 13-9 margin. Mars Hill falls to 0-2-1 overall and 0-1 in SAC matches. Newberry remained unbeaten at 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Naranjo got the Wolves on the board in the 26th-minute, making a one-on-one move off a thru-ball from Gabrielle Brodie. The goal was Naranjo's second of the season.
Sager added an insurance goal at the 53:02 mark. Brayden Miller picked up the assist.
Hannah Russell had two shots on goal for the Lions. Tori Stajduhar played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
Mars Hill returns to action Wednesday, Sep. 18 in a non-conference match at North Greenville at 7:00 p.m.
