Women's Soccer Loses at Lenoir-Rhyne

Mars Hill’s women’s soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision Wednesday evening at SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Lions fell to 1-7-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the SAC. The Bears improved to 7-2-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the league.

HICKORY, N.C. – Mars Hill's women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision Wednesday evening at SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Lions fell to 1-7-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the SAC. The Bears improved to 7-2-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the league.

The Bears exploded for five first half goals. Leah Mullins started the scoring in the sixth minute on an assist by Amber Madriaga. Kayla Stamey then scored off a header from Hannah Keibel in the 11^th minute. Emily Dunn then recorded three consecutive penalty kicks in the 31^st, 32^nd and 45^th minute to send the teams into the locker room at halftime with the Bears enjoying a 5-0 advantage.

Madriaga added the final score of the contest at the 76:55 mark on a breakaway. The goal was assisted by Brianna Belsky.

Maslyn Greene played the first 74:51 in goal for MHU and made four saves. Hannah Stapleton played the final 15:09 in the net for the Lions and made five saves. Genny Little played the entire contest in goal for L-R and made two saves.

Mars Hill will host Coker College on Saturday, October 12. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
