Women's Soccer Loses at Lenoir-Rhyne
Mars Hill’s women’s soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision Wednesday evening at SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Lions fell to 1-7-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the SAC. The Bears improved to 7-2-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the league.

HICKORY, N.C. – Mars Hill's women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision Wednesday evening at SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Lions fell to 1-7-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the SAC. The Bears improved to 7-2-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the league.
The Bears exploded for five first half goals. Leah Mullins started the scoring in the sixth minute on an assist by Amber Madriaga. Kayla Stamey then scored off a header from Hannah Keibel in the 11th minute. Emily Dunn then recorded three consecutive penalty kicks in the 31st, 32nd and 45th minute to send the teams into the locker room at halftime with the Bears enjoying a 5-0 advantage.
Madriaga added the final score of the contest at the 76:55 mark on a breakaway. The goal was assisted by Brianna Belsky.
Maslyn Greene played the first 74:51 in goal for MHU and made four saves. Hannah Stapleton played the final 15:09 in the net for the Lions and made five saves. Genny Little played the entire contest in goal for L-R and made two saves.
Mars Hill will host Coker College on Saturday, October 12. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
