Women's Soccer Beats Brevard on Senior Night
Megan Stabile scored at the 99:33 mark in the first overtime period to lift the Lions over Brevard, 3-2 in women’s soccer action on Senior Night.

MARS HILL, N.C. – Megan Stabile scored at the 99:33 mark in the first overtime period to lift the Lions over Brevard, 3-2 in women's soccer action on Senior Night. Mars Hill improved to 3-10-2 overall and 2-7-1 in the SAC. The Tornados fell to 3-11-1 on the season and 0-8-1 in the league.
Prior to the match, Mars Hill recognized their three senior players. Danielle Franco, Alyssa Morris and Leah Taylor played their final match in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Alyssa Morris scored the first goal of the match at the 9:49 mark on a through ball. The goal was assisted by Leah Taylor. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Morris added her second goal of the night off a penalty kick in the 47th minute to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage. Kaitlin Burns trimmed the Tornados lead to 2-1 at the 65:25 mark off a free kick from the top left side of the box. Yuki Soga tied the contest on a penalty kick in the 74th minute to send the contest into overtime.
Mars Hill outshot the Tornados, 21-16. Corner kicks were knotted at three apiece while the Lions were called offsides six times. Tori Stajduhar played all 99:33 in goal for MHU and made six saves. Brittany Webster also played the entire match in the net for the Tornados and made 12 saves.
The Lions will play at Milligan College on October 30. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
