Women's Soccer Falls at LMU, 2-1

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Mars Hill's women's soccer team lost on the road at SAC rival Lincoln Memorial University, 1-0, Thursday afternoon. The Lions fell to 0-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the SAC. The Railsplitters improved to 4-1-1 on the year and 3-0 in the league.
Olivia Thompson scored her first goal in the contest at the 53:00 minute mark by taking a pass from Michelle Hunter and beating a Lion defender to find the back of the net. Thompson added an insurance goal in the 77th minute to give the Railsplitters a 2-0 advantage. The second score was unassisted.
Rachel Weber scored the Lions' lone goal at the 89:10 mark on a breakaway to trim the deficit to 2-1 but that was as close as MHU would get. Lincoln Memorial outshot the Lions, 28-11. LMU edged the Lions in corner kicks 2-1 while each team was called offsides once. Tori Stajduhar played all 90 minutes in goal for MHU and made nine saves. Kayla Stephens also played the entire match in the net for the Railsplitters and made three saves.
Mars Hill will host Anderson University on Saturday in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Match time is slated for noon.
