Seniors honored in final game of 2017 season
The Mars Hill women's soccer team were shutout 3-0 against Anderson on Senior Day at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Saturday afternoon.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team were shutout 3-0 against Anderson on Senior Day at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Lauren Allan put the Trojans up 1-0 less than eight minutes into the game. Stealing the ball in the Mars Hill defensive zone, Allan strode in untouched and struck it past Kaitlyn Danglemaier for her fourth of the season.
In the 38' minute, Bethany Morgan extended the Trojans' lead to 2-0 with her first of the season. Off of a free kick from Alexis Hartert, Morgan received the ball inside the box and redirected the ball in with her right foot.
Anderson would add one more on the board in the second half as Allan collected her second of the contest. Collecting a through ball from Melanie Maddox, Allan once again shot the ball low past Danglemaier.
Mars Hill honored Danglemaier, Breona Tate, Aleonya Hunter, Ashely Martian and Juanita Guzman at the start of the contest as they played their last game for Mars Hill. Hunter and Tate finished the season tied for team lead in goals with two apiece.
The Lions wrapped up the season with a 3-12-1 (1-9 SAC) record. Anderson improved to 6-8-1 (5-5 SAC).
