SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-4-1) was defeated by Converse (3-3-1) by a score of 2-0 Tuesday evening on the road.
A scoreless first half saw the Lions outshot 12-1. The Valkyries continued their offensive pressure in the second, netting two goals.
Ellie Gore scored both Converse markers, a little less than 10 minutes apart. The Valkyries outshot Mars Hill 13-3 in the final 45 minutes of play, and 25-4 throughout the contest.
Jasmine Hernandez led all players with five shot attempts followed by four from Gore.
Samantha Swinson led the Lions with two shots followed by one apiece from Louise Borgudd and Ella Parton.
Hanna Johnson, in her first start with Mars Hill, made eight saves.
The Lions return to South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, September 28 when they host Emory & Henry. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
