WINGATE, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-5-1, 0-2-1 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (5-1-2, 4-1 SAC) by a score of 3-0 Monday evening on the road.
Wingate struck first just 48 seconds into the match with a goal from Makenna Freeman, assisted by Katherine Ensalaco. Yasmin Cowley added a second goal in the 29th minute, assisted by Ensalaco, while Ellie Polk capped the scoring at 38:35 with a goal assisted by Hinako Aoki.
Carla Humera led the Lions with three shots while goalkeeper Camryn Miller made nine saves.
Mars Hill returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 12 when they face Carson-Newman on the road. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
