
Lions score season-high in record-setting win
Mars Hill wins third meet of season, establishing new season best.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (3-0) defeated Newberry (0-3) by a score of 240.435-86.775 Thursday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
Mars Hill took the first half comfortably, outscoring Newberry 90.30-53.60 after the first three events. The Lions scored highest in the Open Acro heat with a 9.75 followed by the Compulsory Toss with a score of 9.6.
In the Tumbling Event, Nasiri Mond scored an 8.325 in the Aerial Pass while Arwen Mamer scored an 8.775 in the 6-Element Pass. Rounding out the individual passes, Reese Goldberg scored an 8.575 in the Open Pass.
The Lions closed out their first home meet of the year with a 79.76 in the team event.
Mars Hill scored 240.435 points, totalling their highest score of the season thus far. Winning their third meet of the year, the Lions have established a new season-high.
The Lions return home on Tuesday, February 25 when they face Presbyterian. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. start.
