
Mars Hill takes road meet versus Wingate
WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (6-1) defeated Wingate (2-4) by a score of 238.640-234.255 Friday evening.
The Lions' big advantage came after the Compulsory Event, outscoring the Bulldogs by nearly three points. Mars Hill scored highest in the Pyramid Heat with a 9.45, the highest score in any heat for both teams during the event.
Following a close Acro Event that saw the Lions extend their lead slightly, Mars Hill closed out the first half by also taking the Pyramid Event.
Mars Hill opened the second half strong with the Toss Event, outscoring Wingate by a margin of 1.95 points. The Lions won their fifth event of the night in the Tumbling Event, scoring 47.30 in the six heats.
Mars Hill will wrap up their home schedule on Saturday, March 22 when they host King on Senior Day. The meet is set for a 2 p.m. start.
