Lions Fall to Railsplitters in Tight Match
HARROGATE, TENN.-- The Mars Hill men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 by Lincoln Memorial in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
Phillip Hoffman, Marcelo Alvim, Gabriel Martins and Guilherme Rocha won in singles play to pace the Railsplitters to the victory. Euquerio Guerrero and Sam Lee picked up singles victories for the Lions. Mars Hill fell to 3-9 overall and 3-5 in SAC matches. Lincoln Memorial is now 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference matches.
Mars Hill took two doubles points behind Lucas Simm and Guerrero's victory in the no. 1 court and Lee and Zach High's victory in the no. 3 court. LMU's no. 2 pairing of Alvim and Will Sparks was victorious.
The Lions will conclude their regular season tomorrow in a SAC match at Carson-Newman at 1:00 p.m. A victory would clinch the Mars Hill the number six seed in the SAC Championships.
