Lions Turn in Strong Performance at Niswonger Invite
JOHNSON CITY, TENN.- Several members of the Mars Hill men's track and field team competed in the Niswonger Invitational, held Friday and Saturday on the David E. Walker track.
Sophomore Derek Gibson placed eighth in the 5000 Meter Run, turning in a time of 16:11.07. That time was second among Division II runners. Joshua Adcock finished tenth in the same event, finishing in 16:19.42.
Travis Riner turned in the best Division II Shot-Put throw at the event, placing sixth overall with a throw of 48 feet, 10.25 inches.
Deandre Vines finished 19th in the preliminaries of the 200 Meter Dash. His time of 22.61 was the second-best preliminary time among Division II runners.
The Niswonger Invitational featured over 800 student-athletes from 60 institutions covering all NCAA Divisions and NAIA.
