Two Lions Named All-Region
NEW ORLEANS, LA.-Two members of the Mars Hill men's track and field team were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Southeast Region Indoor Track and Field Team.
Jaymz Fagaragan and Travis Riner each earned recognition on the team. Fagaragan earned recognition for his performance in the Heptathlon. Riner was honored for his performance in the Shot Put. A total of 555 student-athletes were named to their respective all-region teams nationwide.
Fagaragan was the best NCAA Division II performer in the Hetathlon at the Hilton Garden Invitational, where he set a new school-record by earning 3,741 points in the event.
Riner has turned in a pair of first-place finishes in the Shot Put, winning the event at the Gamecock Invitational and the Lynchburg Sprints, Jumps and Throws Challenge. His top throw of 49'-11.25" came at the Lynchburg event.
Mars Hill will have competitors in both the Power Sox
Invitational and Virginia Tech Qualifier this Saturday, Mar. 2.
