Lions Fall to Emmanuel
The Lions’ women’s soccer team lost to Emmanuel 2-1 Tuesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.

Mars Hill, N.C. – The Lions' women's soccer team lost to Emmanuel 2-1 Tuesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 0-5 on the year while Emmanuel improved to 1-2 on the season.
An own goal by the Lions gave Emmanuel a 1-0 advantage at the 31:27 mark. That was all the scoring the first half would see. Mars Hill outshot Emmanuel 6-3 in the first frame.
Noel Samples scored what would later prove to be the match winner in the 84th minute on a through ball passed by Kelly Hall. Breona Tate brought the Lions within a goal of Emmanuel at the 87:25 mark scoring on a breakaway after a lead pass from Sammi Lawson. Emmanuel was able to keep the Lions at bay the remaining minutes of the contest to obtain the victory.
Mars Hill outshot Emmanuel, 10-9. The Lions edged Emmanuel in corner kicks, 4-2. MHU was called off sides five times in the match. Maslyn Greene played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lions and made three saves. Marina Eisenhut also played the entire match in the net for Emmanuel and also made three saves.
Mars Hill will play at Tusculum on Saturday. Match time is set for a 10:30 a.m. start.
