Women's Falls to Brevard in Double Overtime

BREVARD, N.C. – Mars Hill's women's soccer team lost on a penalty kick in the second overtime period at Brevard in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Lions fell to 0-15-1 overall and 0-10 in the league. The Tornados improved to 4-11 on the year, 2-8 in the conference.
After 101:57 minutes of play, Lizzie Graham was fouled in the box and beat the Lions' keeper on a penalty kick to lift Brevard to victory. MHU outshot the Tornados 15-14 while Brevard edged the Lions in corner kicks, 4-3. Tori Stajduhar played the entire match in the net for the Lions and made five saves. Rachel Blong and Hannah Russell led the Lions' offense with three shots apiece. All three of Blong's shots were on goal. Jordan Allen and Megan Stabile added two shots each. Jocelyn Springer also played the entire contest in goal for Brevard and made four saves. Alexis Griffis led Brevard with four shots, three on goal.
Mars Hill will host Catawba in the season finale on October 31. Match time for the Lions' senior night is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
