Martinsen scores in second straight, Lions fall to Chargers

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-2-1) was defeated by Alabama-Huntsville (1-1-1) by a score of 2-1 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Chargers scored twice in the second half to come from behind and pick up their first win of the season. In the 63rd minute, Caroline Buchanan was able to score her first of the season. In the 68th minute, Buchanan assisted on Brynn Colvin's second of the season to take their first and only lead of the contest.
Sanne Martinsen opened the scoring for Mars Hill, scoring her second goal in as many games. In the 23rd minute, Bailey Whitehead-Price was once again able to find Martinsen for the tally, earning her second assist of the season.
Alabama-Huntsville outshot the Lions 17-6 and held a decisive 9-1 advantage in the second half. Colvin attempted six shots with four on-target while Laura Hasani put two towards Camryn Miller. Martinsen led the Lions with three shots while Kiana Tuckett added one of her own.
Hailey Hicks made three saves for the win. Miller made 10 saves, her second double-digit save contest of the season.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, September 15 when they take on Carson-Newman on the road. Their South Atlantic Conference opener is slated for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
