MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-10-1, 0-7 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (8-2-2, 6-1 SAC) by a score of 5-0 Wednesday night.
The Bears took an early 1-0 lead less than six minutes into the contest. Evan O'Leary netted her first of two on the night with a long shot from outside the box, finding its way under the crossbar. O'Leary, in the 17th minute, scored her seventh of the year, clanking a low shot off the far post.
Allie Zueger, who assisted on O'Leary's second goal, extended the Bears' lead to three by scoring her third of the year. Zueger pulled up on the right side of the box and launched a high shot inside the far post.
In the second half, the Bears added two goals, both off the foot of Leonie Proessl. Zueger added an assist on the second marker from Proessl.
Lenoir-Rhyne outshot the Lions 21-2 in the contest. O'Leary led all players with seven shot attempts followed by Proessl's five.
Grayson Cameron made one save in the win while Camryn Miller stopped five in the loss.
The Lions return to the pitch on Saturday, October 16 when they take on Catawba at 1 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
