Lions open SAC play on road versus C-N
The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-3-1, 0-1 SAC) was defeated 2-0 by Carson-Newman (2-1-2, 1-0 SAC) in their South Atlantic Conference opener Wednesday evening on the road.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-3-1, 0-1 SAC) was defeated 2-0 by Carson-Newman (2-1-2, 1-0 SAC) in their South Atlantic Conference opener Wednesday evening on the road.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Sydnee Duncan put in a pass from Mic Kriebel. At the end of the first, the Eagles held the Lions shotless while attempting 13 in the first 45 minutes.
Carson-Newman doubled the score when Nellie Bryneus scored in the 57th minute. The Eagles outshot the Lions 11-2 in the second half and secured the shutout win.
The trio fo Bryneus, Abbie Zander, and Emilee Futrell attempted four shots apiece. Sanne Martinsen and Carla Humera were credited with the shot attempts for the Lions.
Lilly Ebner earned the win while Camryn Miller made six saves in the losing effort.
Mars Hill closes out their three-game roadtrip on Sunday afternoon when they face Tusculum. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
