
Mars Hill drops road contest versus No. 17 L-R
The Mars Hill football team (2-2, 1-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne (2-1, 1-1 SAC) by a score of 31-16 Saturday night on the road.
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill football team (2-2, 1-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne (2-1, 1-1 SAC) by a score of 31-16 Saturday night on the road.
The Bears scored 17 points in the first half, all in the second quarter, and held the Lions scoreless entering the second half. Mars Hill, however, outscored Lenoir-Rhyne 16-14 in the second half, converting on both two-point conversion attempts.
Mars Hill outgained Lenoir-Rhyne 454-451 yards and racked up 29 first downs, six more than the Bears. The Lions threw for 394 yards and ran for 60, scoring two rushing touchdowns on the night.
