JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill football team (7-2, 5-1 SAC) defeated Carson-Newman (0-8, 0-6 SAC) by a score of 49-23 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Lions fell behind 17-7 midway through the second quarter. Mars Hill responded by scoring 42 straight points to go up 49-17 with under eight minutes to play. As the clock hit zero, Carson-Newman scored their third touchdown of the game.
Mars Hill outgained the Eagles 419 to 316, holding the Carson-Newman passing offense to 130 yards. The Lions racked up 195 yards on the ground.
