
Lions look to "Fill the Hill" Saturday versus Tusculum
Mars Hill University has designated this Saturday’s home football game a “Fill the Hill” event, with a special admission price available to families from our Local Lion counties.
MARS HILL, N.C. – Mars Hill University has designated this Saturday's home football game a "Fill the Hill" event, with a special admission price available to families from our Local Lion counties. Mars Hill will take on South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum University. The Lions currently are in first place in the SAC with a league record of 5-1. Mars Hill is 7-2 overall this season.
Families from the Local Lion Promise counties may attend the game for $5, which will cover admission for all members of a family. Counties that are eligible for the Local Lion Promise include: Avery, Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, Mitchell, McDowell, and Yancey. Fans must show an I.D. with their home address at the gate to receive this reduced admission price. The Local Lion Promise guarantees at least half-off of tuition for traditional undergraduate students from the eligible counties.
The Lions are coming off a dominating victory against Carson-Newman by a score of 49-23. Quarterback Jimmy Urzua threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns, two to tight end Ty Snelson (a Madison High graduate) and one to tight end Beau DeBerry. Dexter Fitzpatrick and Earl Adams each had ten tackles, followed by Landon Honeycutt with nine. Tristan Rankin added two interceptions in the game, including one which he returned for a touchdown. Rankin has eight interceptions so far this season, just one short of the school record. Urzua leads the conference in passing touchdowns and Snelson tops the conference in receiving touchdowns. Snelson was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week.
