Bulldogs hold off Mars Hill in regular season finale
The Mars Hill football team (8-3, 6-2 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (8-3, 6-2 SAC) in their bid for a South Atlantic Conference Championship by a score of 26-19 Saturday afternoon.
WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill football team (8-3, 6-2 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (8-3, 6-2 SAC) in their bid for a South Atlantic Conference Championship by a score of 26-19 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldog defense stood tall with under four minutes to play, stopping the Lions twice from scoring. Jaquan Edwards led the way with 12 tackles, two for loss, and one sack on the day.
The Lions collected 24 first downs to Wingate's 17 and racked up 379 yards of offense to the Bulldogs' 300. Wingate possessed the ball just over 31 minutes and netted four sacks for 40 yards.
Mars Hill closes out the regular season with eight wins, tying the most in program history with the most recent year being in 2011.
