The Mars Hill men’s basketball team (1-7, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (6-3, 1-2 SAC) by a score of 80-59 Wednesday night.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-7, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (6-3, 1-2 SAC) by a score of 80-59 Wednesday night.
The Bears outscored Mars Hill 37-25 in the first half, hitting 40 percent of their shots in the frame. Tay Smith led all players with 13 points while Tim Steel led the team with five rebounds. Kory Davis, in his return from the first game of the season, led the Lions with 11 points and six rebounds. Kendall Davis added five points in the frame as the Lions shot just under 36 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play.
The Bears hit over 56 percent of their shots in the second half en route to the 80-59 victory. Smith netted 10 points along with Nas Tyson. Dawkins led the Lions with eight points followed by seven apiece from Davis and Aljaz Vidmar.
Smith led all players with 23 points followed by 15 from Tyson. Kory Davis led the Lions with 18 points followed by 13 from Kadyn Dawkins. Davis led all players with nine rebounds.
Mars Hill wraps up the 2023 slate on Saturday, December 16 when they host Emory & Henry. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
