Mars Hill closes home slate on Senior Day

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (3-22, 2-16 SAC) was felled by Catawba (17-5, 14-4 SAC) by a score of 92-76 Saturday afternoon in their home finale.
Catawba led by just three at the half, up 44-41. In the second, they put up 48 points, shooting 53 percent from the floor. DeAngelo Epps led the team with nine points followed by eight apiece from Shad Thomas and Javeon Jones.
Kendall Davis led all players in the second half with 10 points. Marcus Rodgers added seven off the bench. Derrick Molden Jr. led the Lions with four rebounds in the half while adding five points.
In the first half of play, Kadyn Dawkins led all players with 15 points, hitting 6-of-8 shot attempts. Davis added 11 points while Molden led all players with six rebounds in the frame.
Davis led all players with 21 points followed by Dawkins' 17. Molden and Rodgers each scored 10 points while Molden led all players with 10 rebounds, completing the double-double.
Prior to the game, Molden was recognized on Senior Day for his contributions to the team over his career at Mars Hill.
The Lions take to the road on Wednesday, February 28 when they face Anderson in their penultimate game of the 2023-24 season. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
