Mars Hill defeated by Railsplitters
The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-19, 1-13 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (17-6, 11-3 SAC) by a score of 84-64 Saturday afternoon on the road.
HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-19, 1-13 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (17-6, 11-3 SAC) by a score of 84-64 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Railsplitters doubled up the Lions in the second half, outscoring them 56-28 as Chase Rankin and Martez Brown led the team offensively. The two combined went 13-of-14 from the floor with Rankin netting 17 and Brown 16, respectively. Brown made all seven shots attempted. The Railsplitters hit 18-of-23 shots in the second half, slightly over 78 percent.
Kory Davis led the Lions' offense in the second, scoring nine while Kadyn Dawkins added seven.
Mars Hill led at the half 36-28, hitting 52 percent of their shots. Dawkins went 7-of-10 from the floor, leading the team with 16 points. Davis and Caleb Mauldin added eight apiece.
Brown led all players with 24 points and 13 rebounds, hitting all 11 attempted shots in the double-double performance. Rankin ended the night with 19 points and a game-high eight assists.
Dawkins scored 23 to lead the Lions followed by 17 from Davis. Marvin Hires led the Lions with six rebounds.
Mars Hill returns to the court on Wednesday, February 14 when they face Coker on the road at 7:30 p.m.
