Mars Hill felled by Cobras
The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-20, 1-14 SAC) was defeated 120-94 by Coker (13-10, 9-6 SAC) Wednesday night on the road.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-20, 1-14 SAC) was defeated 120-94 by Coker (13-10, 9-6 SAC) Wednesday night on the road.
Coker led by 26 at the half, scoring 67 in the first. The Cobras hit 61 percent of their shots with four players recording double-figures. AJ Burch and Andre Leavell each scored 13 while Glenn Bynum Jr. and Mahmoud Bangura added 10 apiece. Burch hit four of the Cobras' 10-made threes in the half.
Kadyn Dawkins led the Lions with 12 points while Marcus Rodgers added six. Dawkins, Derrick Molden Jr., and Eric Holmes each pulled down three rebounds.
Both teams netted 53 points in the second with the Lions hitting 57 percent of their shots, going 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Dawkins netted another 12 points to lead the team. Kory Davis scored nine followed by seven apiece from Caleb Mauldin and Kendall Davis.
Bangura led all players with 14 points in the half. He led the Cobras with 24 points. Six other Cobras' ended the night in double-digits. Dawkins led the Lions with 24 points followed by 13 from Kory Davis. Mauldin and Kendall Davis each added 12 points apiece.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, February 17 when they face Lenoir-Rhyne on the road. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
