Lions downed by LMU

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-14, 0-8 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (12-5, 6-2 SAC) by a score of 97-75 Wednesday night.
The Railsplitters shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half, outscoring the Lions 45-34. Me'Kell Burries led the team with 16 points followed by 10 from Chase Rankin. Despite going down 17-0 in the first few minutes of the half, the Lions rallied to pull within 11 heading into the half. They were led by London Maiden's eight points while the trio of Kory Davis, Kendall Davis, and Xavier Meekins each added five apiece.
Lincoln Memorial continued their hot shooting, hitting 79 percent of their shots from the floor and going 7-of-9 from beyond the arc. Burries led all players with 17 points followed by 15 from Wes Enis. Kendall Davis led the Lions with 11 points followed by eight from Xavier Meekins.
Burries led all players with 33 points, hitting all 13 shot attempts, seven for three. Rankin ended the night with 14 points and 10 assists for the double-double.
Kendall Davis led the Lions with 16 points while Meekins added 12 for the Lions. Kory Davis led the team with five assists.
Mars Hill returns home on Saturday, January 20 when they host Limestone. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
