Mars Hill defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne
The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-21, 1-15 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (13-12, 8-9 SAC) by a score of 69-61 Saturday evening on the road.
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (2-21, 1-15 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (13-12, 8-9 SAC) by a score of 69-61 Saturday evening on the road.
The Bears used a strong second half to mount their comeback win, hitting 57 percent of their shots from the floor and going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Tay Smith led the team with 14 points while Jaquias Franklin added eight.
Kory Davis led Mars Hill with eight points in the second followed by Caleb Mauldin and Kendall Davis' six apiece.
Mars Hill led by seven at the end of the first half, 33-26, with Kory Davis' 11 points leading all players. Mauldin chipped in with 10 while Marvin Hires pulled down a half-high seven rebounds while adding six points.
The trio of Gabe Cerda, Jalen Miller, and Sam Martin netted five points apiece for Lenoir-Rhyne in the first half.
Smith led the Bears with 18 points while Franklin ended the day with 11.
Kory Davis led all players with 19 points as Mauldin added 16, going 7-of-8 from the floor. Both Hires and Mauldin led all players with seven rebounds apiece.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, February 21 when they face Emory & Henry. Tipoff is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start.
