
Newberry narrowly edges Mars Hill in conference action
The Mars Hill men's tennis team (2-7, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (3-2, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 5-2 Thursday afternoon.
NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's tennis team (2-7, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (3-2, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 5-2 Thursday afternoon.
The duo of Jose Roa and Diego Lopez took the first flight in doubles play. Newberry would take flights two and three narrowly, securing 7-6 (7-3) win in flight two and a 7-5 result in the third flight.
Roa and Gustaf Nilsson won both the fourth and fifth flights in singles play in straight sets. Newberry took flights one through three in straight sets and escaped the sixth flight with a three-set victory.
Mars Hill returns to the courts on Wednesday, March 8 when they face Wingate on the road. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
