Mars Hill felled by Tusculum on road
The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-9, 0-5 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (14-2, 5-1 SAC) by a score of 82-44 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play.
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-9, 0-5 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (14-2, 5-1 SAC) by a score of 82-44 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play.
The Pioneers held the Lions to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters and led Mars Hill 34-16 entering the half. The teams combined for 53 points in a high-scoring fourth frame that saw Tusculum hit 59 percent of their shots, netting a game-high 34 points.
Blayre Shultz led all players with 28 points while Jami Tham netted 17 points and collected 14 rebounds for the double-double. Mya Belton scored 11 and pulled down 11 rebounds for her respective double-double.
Naja Ngongba led the Lions with 13 points and seven rebounds followed by 12 points from Hannah Barr. Janette Hanni added 11 points on the day.
Mars Hill returns home on Wednesday, January 11 when they host UVA Wise. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m.
